Flower Power

It is Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 830 in the morning. I am helping Lauren get ready for her first soccer game and trying to keep my composer. You see 6 1/2 yrs ago they told Kevin and I that our little girl might never walk without leg braces and never be able to play sports and be active. Now I stand here today as I watch the excitement in her as she puts on her uniform! The tears are flowing. Kevin is so happy to be able to be one of the assistant coaches for her team and she loves it too! It's going to be a good day!

When we got to the game it was serious business.....for most! Kevin put up the team banner, the girls strategized and Logan, well he played, snacked and had a good time!

Then the game started. The girls played their hearts out. For most it was their first time. Lauren did very well keeping up with the ball, but still not too aggressive in fighting for it....she'll learn fast!

Then they put her in to be goalie...yikes! She looked so cute in her pink shirt in that big net! It looked as if she was praying for no one to come to the net. She tried her best not to let anyone score, but a few did get by her.

When the game ended we had lost 5-3...not bad for our first time. They then enjoyed going through the tunnel made by all the parents. It was very cute.

Overall a memorable first game. We are looking forward to a fun season. When I asked Lauren if she had learned anything new playing her first game and she said, "I need to run faster and that I am better at not being goalie!". I told you she would learn fast!

Who says summer fun has to end??

So as we entered into the second week of school, I wasn't ready to let the summer fun end!

So Logan and I headed to Happy Hollow with his friend. It was a beautiful day. They went on all the rides, but LOVED the Frog Hopper the best and went on it over and over! So cute!

Lauren started her first soccer league (for Uncle John of course). She is loving playing with her friends from school. She enjoys her practices twice a week and has her first game this weekend. Can't wait to see her in her ORANGE uniform! I have the hairbows already thanks to Christine!

Even the adults in the house wanted to have fun too! We went out for a "date night" to Kevin's favorite place and it wasn't even his birthday! Those of you who know him well, know that he has been going there for his birthday since he was around 9!

My Little Money Makers!
They both bugged me all Labor day weekend to have a lemonade stand. So I gave in on Monday. They were so excited! Lauren and I went out to buy the supplies. She thought raspberry flavored mix would be the best seller. When we got home and set things up, she was very concerned that she sell each cup for the correct price in order to make a profit. She asked how much we spent to buy the mix and cups and how much time it took to make it. She had to figure all that into her price. This was all her thinking.....someone has been listening to her father! All Logan cared about was mixing the lemonade every 5 minutes and of course taste testing too! They both did very well and came up with a system to work together to serve their customers! All in all a very cute day!
And a fun "SUMMER" week!

Who is that girl?

It was the end of the summer and Lauren was getting excited to start first grade! She told me this is the real grades now and she is growing up. Something that she knows I really dislike! Anyway, she decided that she wanted to start the new year as a grown up girl....she wants a new style of glasses, her first tooth to fall out (it has been loose for 3 weeks now and not going anywhere fast!) and that she wants to cut her hair SHORT! She made me pull up pictures from Locks of Love to see what others have done. She was sad to see that she had to cut off at least 10 inches of her hair to donate and she said that would leave her bald. But she was glad to find a picture of a cute haircut and made me print it out. My heart was pounding as I looked at the picture of a very short bob right below her ears, yikes! So after many emails and a phone call in the same day, we were off to my salon. As she was sitting in the salon chair getting her hair washed and cut, my heart was sinking as I realized that she IS growing up. She is not that fragile little girl that needs me to protect her and be there for her every move anymore. Where has the time gone? So after many heart palpitations and lots of hair on the floor, we agreed on a in-between cut and....we have my beautiful daughter with her grown up haircut! And she looks ADORABLE!
The new glasses and the missing tooth didn't work out for her as she planned, but she is all smiles anyway!! Love this girl bunches!!

OK...here it goes!

So my cousin Jessica has been posting some great photos and blogs weekly that I have become an admirer of. She is the original scrapbooker before it became the "in" thing, so if this is what she is using now, it must be great! With our busy lives and all the pictures I take, I never have time to document it. Now hopefully I have a fast and easy way that not only can my friends and family at home see but those distant as well. So hang in there with me as I venture through my first few blogs until I get the hang of this!
